about
i purchased the entire collection myself in morocco, directly from the weavers. i regularly travel all over the country visiting weaver’s collectives out in the desert. i purchase the best rugs i find, the most striking and vibrant and well made, and then send them all back to nyc by cargo ship. since all of these rugs are purchased directly from the tribal weavers (women), they keep 100% OF THE PROFIT, AND EARN MUCH MORE THAN THEY DO WHEN THERE ARE A HALF DOZEN OR MORE (MALE) MIDDLE MEN BETWEN THEM AND YOUR HOME.

What makes our rugs unique?
THE STUNNING COLORS OF THESE RUGS COME FROM NATURAL ORGANIC DYES. WHITES, BLACKS, AND BROWNS COME FROM THE NATURAL COLOR OF THE SHEEP’S WOOL. THE REST OF THE COLORS ARE PRODUCED FROM VEGETABLE SOURCES. THE MADDER PLANT YIELDS A RANGE OF REDS, ORANGES, AND PURPLES. YELLOW IS MADE FROM SAFFRON OR WELD. BLUE IS TRADITIONALLY MADE WITH INDIGO, MOROCCO HAS ONE OF FEW NATURAL INDIGO DYES STILL LEFT IN THE WORLD. GREENS ARE MADE BY OVER-DYING INDIGO WITH WELD OR BY MIXING INDIGO OR COBALT WITH SAFFRON. VARIOUS SHADES OF RED OR VIOLET ARE ALSO MADE FROM INSECT DYE OR LAC, DERIVED FROM THE SHELLS OF BEATLES. INFINITE VARIATIONS ARE CREATED IN THESE COLORS BY THE USE OF MORDANTS.
